George Smith has had a lifelong interest in art. A strong aptitude for math and mechanical design led him to an early career as a conventional engineer where he spent the first five years of his professional life. He then made a life changing decision to turn his back on conventional society and to explore alternative technology. He joined the Whitehawk Community of north Texas which became one of the great families of the counterculture movement, Rainbow Family of Tribes of Living Light. In 1979, at his first annual tribal gathering, his interest in the spiritual use of drums was ignited. George was once interviewed by the late legendary American broadcast journalist, Daniel Schorr (1916-2010), who told George he “was a personal witness to so much of history”.  George's mathematically-inspired sculptures are unique, and a complement to his master craftsmanship of drums.

Peter Mangan has seen success as an artist on both the East and West USA coasts, but is a Texas creature at heart.  He says:  “Living and working in Texas affects the artwork I create.  The people, nature, and landscape are unique and filter into what I create. Planning and intuition combine to make sculptures that speak to others. The struggle with ideas, materials, and tools is always a challenge. The reward is to bring something original into the world and see how people respond.  Metals and glass are my primary media (along with the numerous limestone rocks found on my property). The solid metal is a contrast to the transparent glass. Old and new techniques are used, from laser-jet metal cutting to medieval glass painting methods. I have been a self-employed artist for 35 years. My artwork has been shown and collected in the U.S.A., Europe, and Japan.”  Peter now resides in Blanco, TX.
